Artisanal oil palm processing is a traditional method widely used by small-scale producers, particularly in rural areas in Ghana. Artisanal processors supply more than 60% of the country’s palm oil.
The Sustainable Artisanal Oil Palm Processing Programme (SAPP) supports artisanal oil palm processing centres in the Central, Eastern, Ashanti, Western, Western North, Volta, and Ahafo regions of Ghana to modernize the centres with a financial facility given through technical advice and new equipment to increase the efficiency of the processing centres, improve working conditions and reduce emissions.
The assignment
The principal goal of this assignment is to install 60 biogas digester systems, each with a capacity of 100 cubic meters, at the modernized oil palm mills to be established in Ghana, based on the specification below:

Deliverables
The following deliverables will be expected from the consultant:
- Equipment blueprints
- 60 fully installed biogas digester systems across the designated oil palm centers.
- Comprehensive standard operating procedures (SOPs) covering the operation, safety, maintenance, and environmental management of the processing equipment and systems.
- ISO certifications for the biogas digester systems to ensure international compliance, operational efficiency, and safety standards.
- Structured preventive and corrective maintenance framework, including maintenance schedules, task lists, performance monitoring tools, troubleshooting guidelines, and recommendations for spare-parts management.
Schedule
The assignment is expected to last approximately 7 months starting from May 01, 2026, to November 30, 2026

Management of the Assignment
The assignment is commissioned by Solidaridad West Africa (SWA) as part of its implementation of the Sustainable Artisanal Oil Palm Processing Programme (SAPP). The Country Representative and the Project Manager will be the focal points for this assignment.
Qualification and Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in biodigester systems
- Relevant certifications
