Solidaridad would like to express our deep sorrow for the loss of our colleague and dear friend Javier Coello, who for over three years was a key member of Solidaridad Andean Region.
Through the following words we wish to honour a unique and inspirational person with clear convictions, who was an early adopter of new trends and ideologies throughout his life. Javier would always fight for his ideals, striving to make the world a better place for all, and especially for those in need. His mission was to improve the lives of vulnerable communities and small producers, and he believed in the potential of people to achieve positive change and sustainable development for future generations.
Javier distinguished himself from others at an early age, at college he was the student council president, and at university he excelled receiving a first class degree in Agricultural Engineering from UNALM University where he was a member of the university council.
During his working life Javier always carried out his work with a high level of knowledge, expertise and experience, he was invited to be co-author for articles and books, in addition to being a member of various Boards of Directors such as SEPIA, IPROGA. Javier was also a member of the board of the Peruvian Parque de las Leyendas Zoo. During his MSc studies in England Javier won two prestigious awards for his work and research in renewable energy. He recieved the awards from Prince Charles and Al Gore (former U.S. Vice-President).
As Agricommodities and Gold Programme Manager for Solidaridad, Javier began to work on the first sustainable gold projects in Latin America and the world, whilst providing support for the development of Sustainable Palm Oil production in Colombia and Ecuador.
This is a tribute to an invaluable partner, and a much loved friend. We will continue to work in accordance of his beliefs, which are shared by the whole organisation, and he will continue to inspire us to great work and to achieve the objectives he held close to his heart.

En memoria Javier Coello
Solidaridad siente profundamente la pérdida de uno de nuestros colegas de trabajo y querido amigo Javier Coello, quien por más de 3 años fue parte y pieza clave del equipo de Solidaridad en la región Andina.
Queremos a través de estas letras hacer honor a una persona que supo inspirar y entregarse por completo a sus ideales de crear un mundo cada día mejor. Javier un hombre con un sentido absoluto de la misión de mejorar la vida de pequeños productores y comunidades vulnerables, que creyó en el cambio positivo del ser humano y en la posibilidad de un desarrollo sostenible para una vida digna de las futuras generaciones. Fue un líder inspirador de nuevas tendencias y con convicciones claras a las que se entregó por completo.
Javier supo distinguirse de los demás desde temprana edad, en el colegio fue presidente del consejo estudiantil y durante sus estudios universitarios fue el primero de su promoción de Ingeniería Agrícola en la UNALM además de ser miembro del consejo universitario. Durante su vida laboral demostró un alto nivel de conocimiento y experiencia, motivo por el cual fue invitado a ser co-autor de artículos y libros, además a ser miembro de diversos Directorios; tales como SEPIA, IPROGA y últimamente fue miembro del patronato del Parque las Leyendas. Durante sus estudios de MSc en Inglaterra ganó dos altos reconocimientos, por su trabajo e investigación en energías renovables, que vinieron de grandes personalidades como el príncipe Carlos de Inglaterra y Albert Arnold Gore ex Vice-presidente de EEUU. Por ultimo como parte de nuestro equipo en el puesto de Gerente del Programa Oro y Agricommodities en corto tiempo empezó a trabajar los primeros proyectos de oro sostenible en Latinoamérica y el mundo, además de lograr la posibilidad de desarrollar proyectos de producción de Palma Sostenible en Colombia y Ecuador.
Este es un homenaje y reconocimiento a una persona muy querida y a un compañero muy valioso, seguiremos trabajando en la línea de sus ideales los cuales forman parte de los nuestros.
