Going for good gold

Solidaridad launched a five-year programme in 2016, together with Simavi and Healthy Entrepreneurs, entitled Going for Gold (GfG). The programme seeks to empower women living in and around artisanal and small-scale gold mines in Ghana and Tanzania.

Solidaridad supports carefully selected informal gold mining communities to improve working conditions for women within gold mines. It also works closely with communities, including men and traditional leaders, outside the gold mines to create an environment in which communities, healthcare workers and authorities recognize women’s health rights.
