Solidaridad is looking for an Assistant Controller for our Finance and Control team in order to maintain high quality in a growing and dynamic organization.   

Responsibilities

The Assistant Controller is responsible for the day- to day- financial matters within our organization and translates these into useful management information. This is done together with our financial administrator who will support these processes. 

You will support the Financial Controller with preparing organizational reporting such as the financial annual report, monthly reports, efficiency analyses etc. You will contribute to audits and support in drafting various annual financial reports.

The Finance and Control team currently consists of a Financial Controller, an Administrator and three Project Finance Officers. 

In this position you will:

  • Guard together with the Financial Controller the Planning & Control cycle of Solidaridad; 
  • Work jointly with the Finance team to meet audit requirements, both for the organizational audit and if needed for project audits;
  • Assist the Financial Controller by means of preparing financial reports and analyses that supports the management process as well as meets external requirements;
  • Together with the Administrator implement administrative and financial policies and business processes;
  • Be able to contribute to improving management information systems; 
  • Keep an overview of the goals and budgets, and flag over- or underspending. 

Profile

The Assistant Controller is organized and excels at financial planning, reporting and awareness. A result- and service-oriented work attitude and the ability to explain financial matters to non-financial colleagues are at the core of your competencies. Builds strong (working) relations with colleagues and external stakeholders easily and is pleasant to work with. 

The successful candidate has:

  • Completed relevant Bachelor or Master studies (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Business administration);
  • Minimum 3 years experience in auditing or a financial position that requires knowledge of the Dutch reporting standards (RJ640/RJ650);
  • Knowledge of MS Office; advanced skills in Excel;
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work against tight deadlines;
  • Ability to work both independently and within teams;
  • Excellent English and Dutch language skills (oral and written);
  • Good communication skills and ability to explain accounting and financial matters to non-financial staff;
  • Culturally sensitive and able to handle issues with diplomacy and to cultivate productive working relationships;
  • Affinity with Solidaridad’s mission and vision;
  • Is allowed to work in the Netherlands;
  • Experience with Salesforce and Google (Sheets) would be considered an additional asset. 

Our offer

  • A one-year contract with the possibility of extension, 32-36 hours/week; 
  • Gross salary between EUR 4.024 and EUR 5.036, based on 36 hours/week (salary scale 10 CAO Rijk); 
  • An additional holiday allowance (standard in the Netherlands) will be paid to the employee in May of every calendar year. The holiday allowance is 8% of the gross salary earned in the period from 1 June up to and including 31 May, prior to the date of the payment;
  • In addition, Solidaridad pays an end-of-year allowance equivalent to 8.3% of the gross annual salary earned;
  • Solidaridad offers a non-contributory pension plan;
  • Contribution to moving expenses (if currently living abroad); 
  • Location: Utrecht, the Netherlands, with the possibility to work from home part of the week.
