Translating commitments into action for sustainable African palm oil

Solidaridad, Proforest and the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) are organizing the second Africa Sustainable Palm Oil Conference and RSPO Open Day.

The events will take place at the La Palm Royal Beach Resort in Accra, Ghana, from 6 to 7 September 2016, under the theme of “Translating Commitments into Action”.

Businesses in Africa are beginning to adopt sustainable practices in the production and trade of palm oil. As the commitment to and production of sustainable palm oil increases in Africa in response to the growing global market, there are obvious implications for local businesses and the small producers who dominate the palm oil industry in the region and their ability to adopt global best practice requirements.

The Africa Sustainable Palm Oil Conference 2016 brings stakeholders from all sectors together to discuss how to position businesses in Africa to adopt best practices in sustainability while mainstreaming small producers’ ability to access global supply chains.

RSPO is also organizing a separate Smallholder Strategy Workshop on 8 and 9 September, to be held at the same venue. If you are interested in attending, please contact Julia Majail at RSPO.

Registration is free. However, you do need to register by 15 August 2016. To confirm your seat, please register today.
