The next generation of farmers

Capitalizing on the fact that West Africa produces 70 percent of global supply, Solidaridad is implementing a number of cocoa programmes with private sector companies, governments and other stakeholders in Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Liberia and Nigeria. The programmes are addressing challenges of productivity and service delivery.

Through the Cocoa Rehabilitation programme, Solidaridad is modelling a business case to bridge the service delivery gap in the cocoa sector. Additionally, Solidaridad is implementing the largest youth incubation programme in cocoa in West Africa known as MASO with funding from the MasterCard Foundation. Over 200 cocoa growing communities have been supported to craft development plans with which to seek financial support for community development in Cote d'Ivoire through the Cocoa Life Programme.
