Strengthening Food Security Through Social Employment

Implemented in South Africa by Solidaridad Southern Africa, in partnership with the Industrial Development Corporation, the Social Employment Fund programme is contributing to improved food security among participating households and communities in Gauteng and North West.

This report examines changes in household income, access to nutritious food, dietary diversity, home food gardens and produce donations. Drawing on survey findings and 13 beneficiary case studies, it highlights encouraging early results, including improved household food security for 91.4% of participants, while identifying opportunities to strengthen long-term household resilience and sustainable local food systems.
